65% Reduction in Food Waste at University of Canberra Public Hospital (UCPH) Medirest Site

The Medirest team at the University of Canberra Public Hospital (UCPH) site have had incredible food waste management success after implementing Leanpath at the beginning of the year.

Leanpath allows our teams to track and monitor food waste at site, informing ingredient purchasing patterns and menus with the goal of overall waste reduction. While the technology is important, the commitment and willing disposition of our teams really drives the results and powers change.

The management and culinary team at UCPH have shown amazing dedication to waste reduction. By focusing on the why during implementation, each and every team member has a clear understanding of how their individual and collective efforts are making a difference to the planet and why this is important. To ensure ongoing success, data from our Leanpath systems is downloaded and analysed daily. Weekly team meetings to share successes and discuss future opportunities have kept the focus clear and motivations high.

Through strong leadership, a collaborative and supportive environment, strong commitment to the cause and a 360 feedback loop, our team have had, and are set to continue to excel in their food waste reduction targets.

Since implementation, the Medirest UCPH team have seen a huge 65% reduction in overall food waste. Congratulations to everyone at site!
