Medirest Supports QCH in Planetree Gold Certification

Person Centered Care

Planetree International has formally recognised Children’s Health Queensland’s longstanding commitment to the best care for Queensland children and young people. The Planetree Gold Certification is awarded in Person-Centred Care. QCH is now one of only 98 healthcare organisations in the world to hold a Gold Certification from Planetree International and the first and only in Australia!

Medirest is a longstanding partner at QCH. Here, we proudly provide a full range of soft and hard FM services. This includes clinical food services with onsite dietetic support, menu monitoring team and full service delivery to our patients. Cleaning – one of our most important teams onsite – to protect against infections. Portering, which supports patient movement around the hospital and a friendly face that kids can talk to and so much more. We have a total head count of 345 team members as of April this year.

Queensland Children’s Hospital was evaluated against 26 criteria to earn this certification. The criteria examined the quality of human interactions and involvement of patients and families in their care. They also evaluated the availability of choices, attention to clinical and non-clinical needs, and recognition of the role of culture, social connection and the physical environment in healing. QCH is proudly the only paediatric healthcare organisation in the Southern Hemisphere to have earned this level of excellence.

We are just as dedicated to person-centered care in the non-clinical services we provide. All of our services at QCH have either direct or indirect touchpoints with patients and clinicians. For example, our very own Rob the Sparky had a detailed conversation with a patient on Pokemon while conducting repairs in their room.
